Dr. Marjorie Strawn and her husband Bill left not only a legacy of dedicated service to making the
world a better place, but also a message for our time about taking care of each other. Her
passionate
work as a county health department director brought unparalleled growth of cutting edge services
during her tenure. Bill’s love of the forest resulted in his becoming a forest ranger who protected
the
environment in Western North Carolina. Their combined energy impacted not only the community
in which they lived, but the entire state and nation. They served unselfishly. They lived their faith.
They exemplified compassion.
